# Per Cap & Average Transaction

### Overview

This page helps you understand average spend per person and per booking. This metric shows how pricing and upsell efforts are performing, regardless of traffic volume. There are three key figures here: Per Cap (average spend per checked-in customer for a product or category), Per Cap Overall (average spend per person across all check-ins, not just one category), and Per Booking (average spend per booking, which can include more than one person). It's important to keep these three separate when looking at the visuals below.

### Per Cap Over Time

This table shows your average spend per attendee by date and by site. It also displays last year's average spend for the same date, so you can see which dates or sites are raising or lowering the average before you look at the summary.

### Average Per Cap by Month

This table shows average spend per attendee in a grid by month and year. You can compare the same month across years or look at patterns for a full year. This helps you spot seasonal changes in per-person spend, like months that always have higher averages no matter the traffic.

### Per Cap Year to Date

This pair of cards shows your average spend per attendee so far this year next to the same figure from this point last year. This lets you compare current per-person spend to last year's.

### Per Cap, Full Prior Year

This card shows last year's average spend per attendee for the full fiscal year, not just year-to-date. Use this as a benchmark to see if this year's per-attendee spend is on track to beat or fall short of last year's final number.

### Average Spend Per Booking

This card shows your average spend per booking, which is total revenue divided by the number of bookings, not by the number of attendees. Seeing this next to the per-attendee numbers lets you compare spend per person and spend per booking. Each tells you something different: one is about individual visitors, the other is about transactions that might include several people.

### Per Cap by Product Category

This table shows average spend by product category in three ways: average spend per attendee for that category, average spend per attendee across the whole site (with revenue limited to that category), and average spend per booking for that category. This helps with pricing analysis. Comparing per-category spend to site-wide spend for the same category shows how much revenue comes from customers who also buy other things on site, versus those who only buy from that category.
